1926 Bugatti 35B Frame #143This car’s frame # is 143 which probably means that this is chassis #4720 (engine #54A). The rear axle# is 144: the gear box is also numbered and original. Delivered new to Matarazzo (Sao Paulo, Brazil) in February 1926 as a 35A. Extensively raced by Matarazzo, thereafter it was then sold to Pablo Gulle in Argentina, and then to Lucio Bollaert in Buenos Aires. Whilst early results still have to be obtained from the new book “Bugattis in South America” and other sources, later results include: 1947 Automovil Club Mendoza “Premio Vendimia”: Pablo Gulle 2nd place (beating Juan Manuel Fangio!)1947 Rafaela 500: Pablo Gulle 1st place 1948 Automovil Club Mendoza “Premio Vendimia”: Pablo Gulle 2nd place The car was restored by Robin Townsend, and was first seen by Peter when he raced against it in New Zealand in his 8C Alfa Romeo “Monza” chassis #2311218. The Bugatti 35B engine has a bore of 60 mm and stroke of 100 mm, giving a displacement of 2262 cc and 140 bhp at 5000 rpm.
